Nichaud Fitzgibbon

Nichaud Fitzgibbon is one of Australia's favourite Jazz entertainers and is regarded as Australia's premier Jazz stylist.

She has been gracing us with her distinctive smouldering ways for years, she entrances audiences with her beautiful smoky vocal quality and her natural sense of swing. She can rustle a boisterous Latin feel at whim and then melt you with her restraint.

Nichaud has made a trademark with her chameleon ways. She has performed for many  prestigious events and is available to work in a variety of settings from duo to Big band. Born into the talented Fitzgibbon family her musical pedigree spans 3 generations of famous Jazz entertainers, specializing in the American popular songbook and Jazz favourites of the '20s & '30s but she is renowned for her ability to move you with her exquisite ballad singing, her beautiful treatment of  Brazilian Bossa Nova and her raunchy hot Blues.

She's a natural, charismatic performer who has been delighting Australian and International audiences for years.  Her vocal quality is sultry and warm. Her signature style is sassy and tinged with honey. Nichaud swings, she moves and she always grooves.

Nichaud's most recent career highlights  include a stellar performance  for The Governor General Ms Quentin Bryce and The Prime Minister The Honourable Ms Julia Gillard for The Frontline Gala Ball  Commemorating  70 years since the tragic Bombing of Darwin 2012.

Nichaud was especially invited to sing with James Morrison'sTribute to Australian Swing for The Melbourne International Jazz Festival 2011, she has performed tributes to her father  Smacka Fitzgibbon for The Stonnington Jazz Festival 2010 and  has appeared with The Syncopators  for their Tribute to The American Songbook  for Morning Melodies at The Victorian Arts Centre 2010.

She has tributes to Peggy Lee, The American Songbook, Sergio Mendez & Brazil '66, Smacka Fitzgibbon,  The Southern Country Belles and  has a  new Vaudeville show with  the authentic 1920's band The Cairo Club Orchestra.

Talk about beautiful music, talk about versatility, talk about feisty elegance and you are talking about Nichaud Fitzgibbon.... Melbourne is one of the great cities and Nichaud is one of its treasures. -Kenny Weir Sunday/ Herald Sun

The Fitzgibbon Family has enriched Australian musical life and entertainment for at least three generations and they are still making great music today." -  Barry Humphries

Nichaud's latest cd "Deep In the Night" was produced by the legendary American jazz singer Mark Murphy. It is a selection of standards including songs by Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter, Cy Coleman, Antonio Carlos Jobim, David Frishberg and even Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull fame with arrangements by her talented brother, pianist Mark Fitzgibbon. This stunning recording is an eclectic mix of cool grooves, beautiful ballads and gorgeous bossa nova.
